Hi TheDaveRoss, thanks for Your contributions :) I would like to say something to takk fyrir, the translation section there is linked to takk to avoid redundant work in the translation section, what do You think about it.
Besides I wanted to let You know that Icelandic is addictive, so be careful :)
A beautiful word for You himinninn - the heaven.
sofðu vel, sjáumst, --geimfyglið (:> )=| 22. apríl 2008 kl. 02:14 (UTC)
- I would add such differences in the entries thanks-> óformlegt mál: and thank you-> formlegt mál:
- takk fyrir does not quite translate to thank you but rather literally thanks for (that). 'takk' afaik is not informal or impolite just like 'danke' in German, it is simple but ok. Of course if You want to express Your thankfulness more there are other expressions to do so, like: kærar þakkir ('dear' thank), '(ég) þakka þér <fyrir>' ((I) thank you <for> (that)), '(ég) þakka þér <mjög> kærlega fyrir', ((I) thank You <very> cordially (for that)), 'bestu þakkir' (best thank), and other variations. kær kveðja, --geimfyglið (:> )=| 22. apríl 2008 kl. 20:06 (UTC)

Hello TheDaveRoss, thanks for the message, sorry for responding late, I was in a hurry this morning. There is no direct translation (in Iceland people are addressed by their "given name" and then one could ask for more information like "hvers son/dóttir" (whoses son/daughter) because the second name means "son of name of the father" or "daughter of name of the father2, but I agree, that the Italian one is incorrect, I corrected the entries and removed the Italian translation,
Best regards, --geimfyglið :^╡ 19. febrúar 2010 kl. 12:33 (UTC)
